Undergraduate thesis project
The original thesis was titled Development of a Small Unmanned Aerial System for Surveillance and Package Delivery Applications. The title describes the intended application area; the completed work was a narrower, practical prototype project.
Our team designed and manufactured a small quadcopter, performed preliminary CAD and ANSYS work, implemented a basic controller, and conducted initial flight tests. The project was completed by Farooq Olanrewaju, Mohammed Mohammed Yamman, Tahir Muhammed, and Muhammed Salihu Jimoh.
What we built
- Designed the airframe and component arrangement in SolidWorks.
- Produced assembly and orthographic design views for fabrication.
- Performed preliminary static structural analysis in ANSYS.
- Manufactured and assembled a working small quadcopter prototype.
- Developed and tested a basic flight controller.
- Conducted initial outdoor flight testing with the completed vehicle.
Scope and limitations
This was an undergraduate prototype, not a fully autonomous surveillance or package-delivery platform. The demonstrated contribution was the design, fabrication, and basic control of a functioning small unmanned aerial system. Advanced autonomy, mission planning, payload delivery, and production-grade flight validation were outside the scope of the completed project.
